RECOMMENDED ACTION

WHEREAS, Senate Bill 30 (SB 30) approved by 88th Texas Legislature included a supplemental appropriation designating $1,000,000 over the biennium for the purposes of operating a program to address homelessness among youth and young adult in Fort Bend County;
WHEREAS, the Youth and Young Adult Homeless Program is proposed by staff to effectuate the usage of the supplemental appropriation; and
WHEREAS, the Department now wishes to release a Notice of Funding Availability (NOFA) for Youth and Young Adult Homeless Program in the full amount of $1,000,000;
NOW, therefore, it is hereby
RESOLVED, that the Executive Director and his designees be and each of them hereby are authorized, empowered, and directed, for and on behalf of the Department, to post on the Department's website and to publish a notification in the Texas Register, a 2024 Youth and Young Adult Homeless Program NOFA for funding in the amount of approximately $1,000,000, and to make any technical corrections or perform such other acts as may be necessary to effectuate the foregoing.

BACKGROUND
During the Regular Session of the 88th Texas Legislature, SB 30 relating to supplemental appropriations and reductions in appropriations was passed. Article VII, Section 7.05 of the bill outlines an appropriation of supplemental funds in the amount of $1,000,000 to the Department for the biennium for providing youth and young adult homeless housing and services through a contract for services or otherwise in Fort Bend County under Strategy C.1.2. of HB 1, General Appropriations Act.
